We have just returned from another successful visit to the Philippines.
In the high school, the canteen was in critical condition with a leaking roof that had destroyed the ceiling and revealed a rotten wooden truss. We tore it all down and welded a new steel truss support, replaced the rotted roofing sheets, and added a new ceiling using materials designed to resist future water ingress or infestation. To address flooding during the wet season, we also raised and tiled the floor and gave everything a fresh coat of protective paint.
The improvements continued at the elementary school, where we expanded a crowded daycare center by knocking down a wall and fitting double glass sliding doors to maximize space. We also tiled and painted several classrooms to brighten the learning environment.
Additionally, we were able to assist the dedicated voluntary workers who support the midwife’s visits by providing the medical and nursery supplies they requested to look after the students of the future.
These vital changes were only possible thanks to the continued support from our generous donors. With heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, 1,300 students are now learning in a better, safer environment. Their hopes and dreams continue to be our inspiration every day.
